Observing the Torah requires not only worshiping God, but also leading an ethical life. The ten commandments are important ethical requirements for Jews. The traditional emphasis on ethics is reflected in the charitable work of the Jewish community today.

Daily Worship Through Prayer
Prayer is a mandatory form of worship for male Jews ages thirteen and older. Traditionally, the women are excused because of household duties, but in modern days, they are participating in prayer more. Males are required to wear ritual accessories such as the yarmulke, a set of small boxes containing biblical passages, and a prayer shawl. The prayers are said at least three times daily. They are usually said at the home or synagogue.
